I can't believe it's already the middle of June! Sorry for the lack of blog updates, but I've been either too busy or too tired to write one until now. For any of my followers who want more, you can check out my Instagram and Facebook page for daily updates.
My last blog post was about my trip down to DC with Protect Our Winters; since then I have spent most of my time at home trying to figure out my life. Immediately following the season this March, I had decided I was going to do biathlon again for this coming season. Shortly after announcing that decision, I was having second thoughts. I wasn't sure if I was really still happy doing this sport full-time, but it was also scary to think about a future without biathlon. After talking with my sports psychologist and our new Women's Team Head Coach, I decided I would head to the first training camp of the season and then make my decision.

To be honest, I had low expectations going into the first camp of the year. For the past few seasons I have had lack of motivation and just felt like I was going through the motions in each training session. I was worried I would feel this way during the training camp, and that it would just be miserable. Thankfully, I was completely wrong!

I was so surprised and happy to find that this first training camp of the season has been the best training camp in the past few years for me! I was really enjoying the training sessions again, I felt like I was learning something new in each session, and I found my motivation to get out the door and work hard again. This was a feeling I haven't felt in a long time with this sport, and I am so happy it's back!
Our new coach, Armin Auchentaller, has been amazing to work with - which I believe helps a lot with my new mentality. Another difference between this year and the previous years is that we will now be having more of these camp setups with high focused training. I think this is a lot better for our women's team, since we can all work together for a few weeks each month, and also get to go home and train by ourselves and soak in all the information we just learned during the training camp.

Hopefully that all makes sense and it doesn't sound like I'm just rambling on...bottom line: I'm excited and motivated with biathlon again, and I'm really looking forward for this upcoming season!
I'm back at home now until our next training camp in early July. My plans to move out to Boulder, Colorado have changed a little bit; instead of moving out there at the end of June, I'll be moving out at the very end of August!
