Whoops, it's been over a month since my last update. Remember when I used to be really good about updating, and post a blog almost weekly? Those were the days...haha! It's pretty refreshing to not write a blog post every week, because honestly my life isn't exciting enough to update you all weekly! If you are looking for more frequent updates, you should follow my Instagram, Facebook page, or Snapchat (username: maddiephan).
Beautiful summer evening on my teammates Clare (and Erik's) porch
First off, I want to thank the Enchanted Forest Water Safari for continuing to sponsor me going into the Olympic season! I've been going to my hometown water park for many, many years. Actually, my US Biathlon teammates and I are hoping to make a trip to Old Forge and spend the day at Water Safari sometime this summer! If you're interested in having the most fun EVER, check out their website and order your tickets!
I also want to thank everybody who has purchased a "Phan Club" shirt. I sold so many of them, seriously THANK YOU!!! All of the money went towards my biathlon career (and sending out the shirts). You guys rock. If it weren't for you, I would be very poor and barely able to afford plane tickets, new equipment, and training expenses. Since I got a lot of good feedback, I will be submitting another order form, so if you're interested in purchasing one (for $25) contact me!

In other news, I am back on the full-on training grind. If you weren't aware, I was sick again earlier this month and was unable to train for about two weeks. I was pretty bummed, but glad to be healthy again and back in my normal routine here in Lake Placid.

Now let's see what has gotten me excited this past month...
1) Wonder Woman: Do I even need to explain myself on this one? Such a badass movie. If you haven't seen this one yet, go and see it now before it's gone!! I don't typically love superhero movies...but this one was different. It was very inspiring, had some great one-liners, and was more about the power of love rather than just straight up violence. It was great, would definitely watch it again.
2) Milk and Honey: This is a book by Rupi Kaur which is filled with poems about violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. My sister recommended it to me the other night, and I read the whole thing in about an hour and a half. I felt every emotion, and it was one of the best books I've read in a while. I highly recommend this book to anybody, but especially if you're a female. Even if you're not a huge fan of poems, these ones are good, trust me.
3) Girls with Guns: We're back! We got so many positive comments about our Girls with Guns event in Craftsbury, Vermont back in March that we decided to hold another event in Lake Placid, NY in July. It will be located at the biathlon venue at Mt. Van Hoevenberg on July 9th, from 1:30-3:30 pm, with day-of registration beginning at 1pm. This is a FREE clinic and absolutely NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Ladies from the age of 8-18 are welcome, and parents are more than welcome to hang out and watch. Pre-registration can be found here.
So now you're all (hopefully) caught up on what I've been up to this June! I'll be around the Lake Placid area for just about one more week before I head out to Jackson, Wyoming. I'm so excited for a change of scenery! I can't wait to be in a new place to explore and train with different people (no offense to my amazing teammates!). It will definitely be nice to be somewhere that's sunny and in the 80's almost every day, rather than the current rain we have here. I'll be sure to update you all on my 3 week training camp at the end of July, if not sooner.
