New Year's Day (in a biathlete's world)

The new training season has officially begun (yesterday)! As a winter athlete, we do all of our training during the spring/summer/fall. We typically only get April off to go on vacation...but obviously I've had way more than just a month off. Seven to be exact. Day two of being back into full-time training, and my legs are already destroyed. I'm just telling myself that the first week will be the hardest and it will only get better from here...we'll see!

First hike of the new year! On my way to the summit of Cascade looking towards the Great Range with some frosty trees in the foreground.

Yesterday, I headed up to Lake Placid to look at a house. For those who don't follow me on Facebook and haven't heard the news, I didn't end up getting into Craftsbury's Green Racing Project (their elite team) so time to initiate Plan B - joining forces with NYSEF and my good friend Kelly Kjorlien! I found a place to live and will be moving up to Lake Placid by June 1st and will be working with NYSEF a few times a week with training and helping out coaching with their youth programs. I'm really excited to be working with a program that's so close to my hometown, and to be representing my home state on the race circuit this season!

My future kitchen! EXCITING STUFF PEOPLE!!

My expenses will be a lot higher than past years though, since I'll have to pay for rent and food on top of training expenses...where as in the past I was given a place to live and food to eat. My expenses in the 2017/18 season were around $10,000, so I'm expecting at least that much for this coming season, plus around $6,000 for a year of rent. If you're interested in helping a starving athlete, head here and I'll give you more info on how you can easily do that! I'll give you a personal shoutout on all forms of social media and my website, unless you state your donation as anonymous. I'll also be selling more Phan Club shirts this summer in order to fund my expenses, so stay tuned on their release

Anyway, I've already done 5 hours of training in two days, so we're off to a good start! I've been super excited to be out training again, and I can't wait to make the move back to Lake Placid where the mountains are bigger and there's almost endless roads to rollerski and bike on.

Thank you for reading my blogs!! And supporting me in any form!! Love you all!!
