Hi! I'm Maddie, and I'm a biathlete living and training with the US Biathlon Team and NYSEF in Lake Placid, New York. Biathlon is a Winter Olympic sport that combines cross country skiing and rifle shooting. I've been a professional biathlete since 2014 and have traveled all over the world to compete. When I'm not training or competing I love mountain biking, backcountry skiing, and rock climbing.
I also combine my love of the outdoors with an ongoing effort to protect it by advocating for environmental sustainability while working on issues such as climate change and clean air with the non-profit organization Protect Our Winters. Recently I've found an interest in advocating for mental health awareness, due to my own mental health struggles. I'm new to this conversation, and haven't done a whole lot yet, but I'm excited to learn more and break the stigma around mental health issues!
